In November of 2025, the district asked voters for $84.8 million to renovate and expand the high school. The town said no. Sixty-eight percent voted against it.
The board went back to the community and listened. The biggest objection was size: the old plan was built to hold up to a thousand students, when about seven hundred attend today. So the expansion came out. The board cut $8.9 million and kept what the building truly needs.
The plan on the September 29 ballot is $75.9 million. Here is everything that changed.

What didn't change
The building is still the last one in the district that hasn't been modernized, still running on its original 1959 boiler, pipes, wiring, and single-pane glass, still without fire sprinklers, and still with roughly thirty-two unsecured doors. The fixes stayed in the plan. The extras came out.
